YZi Labs (formerly Binance Labs) has appointed Jane He as General Partner to lead its investments in biotechnology, marking a strategic expansion beyond its traditional Web3 focus.

The move follows the firm’s recent rebranding from Binance Labs and reflects a growing emphasis on artificial intelligence and biotech.

Jane He, an experienced investor with a background in biotech and medtech, will play a central role in identifying and supporting disruptive innovations in these sectors. Her expertise spans cancer therapies, gene editing, metabolic treatments, and AI-driven biotech solutions.

Before joining YZi Labs, He served as an investor and Chief Operating Officer at a Hong Kong-based hedge fund, where she focused on growth-stage biotech companies.

Her previous leadership roles at PAAMCO Prisma also gave her extensive experience in managing investments across Asia.

Ella Zhang, Head of YZi Labs, described He’s appointment as a key step in the firm’s evolving investment strategy.

“We are excited to welcome Jane to the YZi Labs team. She is not only a talented investor but also an entrepreneur at heart, driven to create meaningful change. As we expand our investment focus beyond Web3 into AI and biotech, we are building a team with deep domain expertise and a passion for exploring interdisciplinary innovations to drive our vision forward,” Zhang said.

    AI, biotech, and Web3

He’s appointment reflects YZi Labs’ broader strategy to support transformative innovations at the intersection of AI, biotech, and Web3.

Biotech, in particular, is experiencing rapid advancements, with AI playing an increasing role in accelerating drug discovery, improving diagnostic capabilities, and enabling personalized medicine. The convergence of these fields presents new opportunities for investors and entrepreneurs, a focus YZi Labs is keen to pursue.

The firm is actively seeking visionary founders driving technological advancements in Web3, AI, and biotech.
